The construction of Davao City Bypass Road is now gaining traction. It started a year ago with a massive challenge due to the covid-19 pandemic. FABD Engineering Services is one of those at the frontline of the construction as the contractor for the installation of electricity supply. In spite, no one is holding to excuses, work must go on as much as possible.
The Philippine government under President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s administration will leave a legacy of “Build, Build, Build” for coming generations. The Build, Build, Build program is considered the centerpiece of his governance; to jack up the country’s economy and give a more comfortable life for Filipinos.
The Davao City Bypass Road is one of the mega projects under the Philippine government’s Build, Build, Build program of President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s administration.

This Project comprises 44.6Kms. four lane highway, including the 2.3kms. tunnel section. It will start from Toril, Davao City along Pan-Philippine Highway Davao-Digos section in the southern part and will terminate in Panabo City in the northside intersecting the Davao-Agusan National Highway.
The BBB program of the government is geared towards building massive infrastructure projects throughout the country. The country’s under infrastructure network has long been considered the weakest link in the economic front and the country’s logistics handicap. Enhanced and upgraded logistics facilities such as; airports, seaports, bridges, superhighways, and farm-to-market roads are the economic building blocks of the country.
Significantly, the Davao City Bypass Road project gets the attention of the public particularly the construction sector in the Philippines for its tunnel highway, being the first in the country.

The civil works “Contract Package 1-1” for the Davao City Bypass Road Construction Project have been awarded to the joint venture of two Japanese construction firms; Shimizu & Takenaka, and a local company Ulticon by the Department of Public Works and Highways. The “Contract Package 1-1” covers 10.7kms. of four-lane highway that includes 2.3kms. tunnel.
This segment of the project is considered to be the most vital section as it would require the application of advanced tunneling technology in the horizontal construction industry. The two Japanese construction firms; Shimizu and Takenaka were engaged primarily for the construction of 2.3kms. tunnel as they have the technology and experience in tunnel highway construction.
The 2.3kms. tunnel highway will cut through the mountainous area in barangay Biao, Talomo District as the South Portal towards barangay Waan, Buhangin District as the North Portal. There will be two tube tunnel highway passages designated separately for northbound and southbound vehicles

Currently, the progress of the tunnel construction is nearly 80 meters long from the north portal heading south. FABD Engineering Services is proud of its performance and contribution to the construction of the legacy project under the Build, Build, Build program of President Rodrigo R. Duterte’s administration.
